There will be a randomly drawn comment winner from each blog, and one of those lucky ladies will be selected to win a fabulous package of Prima! How easy is that?

STEP 2: Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to swing by our * facebook page, and LIKE us, and then head over to our *social community and become a MEMBER. Once you’ve done that you will be eligible to win a Scrap That! store gift certificate.

STEP 3: If you want to enter to win the Grand Prize of a Pion Design "Waiting for Santa" Prize Package generously provided by Jenny at Pion Design, then head over to our COMMUNITY for details on our monthly challenge. Dusty Attic & Websters Product Swap

Here is a layout I created using the beautiful Websters Pages All About Me Collection, along with Dusty Attic Chipboard. I used the New Release Corsets DA0637 and out of my older collection Small Scrolls #2 DA0335. I just painted the Chipboard with Black acrylic paint and brushed the pieces with some Glimmer Glam Tinsel Town.

Scrap That! Hoilday Challenge

12 TAGS/CARDS OF CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE – WITH 13 PRIZES TO BE WON! INCLUDING A GRAND PRIZE PION PRIZE PACK!

Here at Scrap That! we are so excited to bring you our Holiday Challenges. Anyone can enter, you do not have to be a Scrap That! subscriber.

Starting on December 1st, there will be 12 daily challenges. Each day starting December 1^st to 12th, we will reveal one of our tag/card challenges with the challenge theme for that day. Each day there will be a new challenge with a new theme and you can create either a card or a tag based on that theme.

Here is the best part, there is a prize EVERY DAY for each challenge, PLUS for each challenge you finish your name will go in for a grand prize draw. The more challenges you enter into, the more chances of winning!

Hi everyone! I have made up some gift tags/gift card holders with the Exclusive PION Kit "Birdsong" from Scrap That! These papers were perfect for making tags...actually there are tags to cut right out of the papers. I just double sided them to make them hold up stronger. I have also used some fabulous Dusty Attic pieces added to the tags. Really they pretty much made themselves:)

I have decorated the backsides of the tags as well...easy to grab and slide a gift card into and go.

Pretty as a Rose...Scrap That! August Kit / Tutorials

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to share a layout I created using the Scrap That! "Somewhere in Time" August Kit. I was assigned to prepare a Tutorial of a layout with this kit. I have used the technique item in the kit the Corrugated Kraft Paper to create embellishments for my page. I have used my punches and made a Rose Bloom for my embellishments to this simple page.

I used the Corrugated Kraft Paper and burlap in this kit and made a punched layered boarder for under my photos and bottom of page. A Rose Bloom and punched butterflies. I have cut a couple leaf shapes from the burlap and pulled some pieces of string from the burlap to tie on my boarder.

How I created the Rose Bloom... **NOTE** This is just one of my versions of using this Tattered Floral Die Cut. I have made up a Water Distressed Rose Bloom awhile back using this die, and I'm certain there are many tutorials using this die.

Cut 2 layers of petals with the Corrugated paper and 2 layers with the patterned paper.

Using scissors I roughed up the edges of all the petals a bit. Start layering your flower Corrugated paper first then patterned paper.Continue to build your flower glue the very center down of each layer stacking the layers

I snipped petals for the top layer to bend it easier

Here's what you will have

Now using your smallest layers make your center for the bloom

Adhere the small center inside.Here I have just pushed up the small petals and pushed them together forming a bud.

Today I will share my layouts that I have created using the Main Kit and Embellishment Add On Kit. For this first page I used the Main Kit along with the beautiful Sketch by LG.

Will you accept this ROSE....

For this page I have used all items found in the Main Kit, with the exception of the tiny alphas and the DA Chipboard leaves. I have created the handmade distressed Rose Blooms with the Bo Bunny Cardstock in the Main Kit. I loved the weight of this beautiful Cardstock not to thin, not to thick...as well as the color and polka-dots:) Here are some close ups...

For the next page I have used the Main Kit along with the Add On Embellishment Kit. The Tim Holtz Fanciful Accoutrements are so heritage...shabby...just gorgeous, love those! I have pulled some of the flowers apart and misted them and then played around with them putting them back together in different order. I have just added 2 roses from my personal stash along with the alphas and chipboard on this page. The photo is of my late Mother, it's one that was taken way back in her younger days, it's one of my favorites.

Somewhere in Time....

And my final layout was created using everything from the Main Kit. This one is a fun and playful page, a little fussy cutting and lots of layers.

Happy...

I made some chipboard letters and covered them with the paper from the layers I cut up. The Dusty Attic Ornate Corner...included in the kit, was covered with 3 neutral color distress paints and then misted to add a little blue and then finally stamped with a newsprint stamp.

Dusty Attic Projects/ Fairytale Sparkle Chipboard

FAIRYTALE MAGICAL SPARKLE CHIPBOARD

For the chipboard on the "Shes a Fairytale" layout I used -
Acrylic Paint - Vintage White
Distress Stickles - Tattered Rose
Diamond Dust
Smooch - Lettuce

I applied a thin layer of paint to start. Let it dry and added another coat. Then spread the Distress Stickles, before the Stickles dried I sprinkled Diamond Dust on. The Stickles will hold on the Diamond Dust Like a glue. Give the chipboard a little shake to remove any loose Dust and let dry.
For the Toadstools after I applied the paint, I painted in the spots with Smooch. Then added my Stickles and Diamond Dust.

Distress Crackle Paint - Antique Linen
Glimmermist - Iridescent Gold
Distress Stickles - Tattered Rose
I simply applied a layer of the Distress Paint a bit thick. Let dry, then sprayed a few heavy coats of the Glimmermist. I then added the Stickles in small clumps. Let dry. You can really see the sparkle.

My projects... and some news I'd like to share today. I have created this layout for the Inspiration Challenge at Dusty Attic. I was inspired by Ingvild to create a scene, so that's how it started out. I really seemed to get caught up in theme of it and kept cutting and adding:) I used the March Kit from Scrap That! featuring Graphic 45 papers Once Upon A Springtime. I also used a whole bunch of Dusty Attic chipboard on this page.

I started by using a thin layer of gesso directly on the paper and spread some Lime Green Stickles into it. You may not see it to well considering I loaded this page. I have done tons of fussy cuts, and layered the flower vines and chipboard in some areas. The Dusty Attic Chipboard was treated by painting it with a coat of Vintage White Acrylic Paint. I then used Tattered Rose Distress Stickles adding in some Diamond Dust on top of the Stickles before they were dry. For the Toad Stools I colored in the green spots with Lettuce Smooch.

LETTERS are LULLABY Glitter Letter Stickers - American Crafts Thickers. Covered with Stickles.

And a little Mini Album..........

I was having so much fun with these papers I decided to keep playing with them and create a mini album.

On the Front cover I used a DA Chipboard Frame and just layered tags and ribbon underneath. I covered the Frame with Distress Crackle Paint Antique Linen, I then sprayed Gold Glimmermist on it and heavily added Distress Skickles Tattered Rose.

Dusty Attic Layouts

I have a couple design pages to share that I created using some of the new chipboard. For the first page I used the Scroll boarder and Skeleton Clock face. I cut up the Scroll piece and arranged it around the flowers. I painted it and used a crackle stamp on it to get the crackle effect. I also put some Rock Candy Crackle paint to finish it off.

For the next page I used the new Wrought Iron Trim Set along with French Window and the Mini Vines stuck into the flowers. I have used some of my chipboard scrap backing to raise up the Window.

Prima Canvas....Scrap That! "Spring Romance" Kit

Hey everyone, hope you all had a great holiday weekend!! One last design project I have to share from the Scrap That! May Kit...."Spring Romance". We received this canvas in the kit, along with some Perfect Pearls Mist. I also added in some Glimmermist Mist from my supply. I used Cream de Chocolate. I have also used other things from my stash. Also some of the New Release pieces of Dusty Attic. I applied a thin coat of Dazzling Metallic craft paint and then added some of the Perfect Pearls Mist - Blue Smoke to the pieces. I did this by unscrewing the top and adding the mist with my finger to the chipboard.

Scrap That! ANNIVERSARY MAY KIT REVEAL BLOG HOP/Alcohol Ink Chipboard

ALCOHOL INKS on Chipboard

Hi everyone! I'm going to show you how I used Alcohol Inks to cover the chipboard dress form. It's so easy and quick too.

Gather your Alcohol Inks and some acrylic craft paint.
First you will apply acrylic paint to your chipboard. This makes the Alcohol Ink colors stand out. Once dry start applying your Inks.

I used 5 different color Inks applied randomly. A mixative Ink in pearl to blend colors together.

When you have finished applying your Inks, next you use the mixative Ink to blend all the different colors together. Don't be scared...the nice thing about Alcohol Ink is that you can keep adding more of one color, and the pearl mixative will lighten the color up a bit if it's to dark. In reverse you can also add more color over the mixative if you find that it's to light.

Here is the finished product

For the Vintage Nameplate I painted the chipboard and then only added 1 color of Alcohol Ink no mixative. This has a bit different of a look.

Hope you have fun experimenting with your Inks. The possibilities are endless!!

If not, head back to the Scrap That! blog and join us. Today I will be sharing 3 layouts I created using the Scrap That! May Kit "Romantic Spring" So happy to be guest designing with them!!

This kit features Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden Collection and some of Prima Botanical Collection. Beautiful blooms, Dusty Attic and so much more!

For my first layout I used the beautiful May Sketch for Scrap That! designed by LG.

This turned into being a fun and playful page!

Some fussy cutting, a circle, a few layered pieces along with prima packaging and the pretty Maya Road satin pleat ribbon to finish off.

Next page I just used an old die cut I had to shape the paper. More fussy cutting....

I used the beautiful Websters bloom for this one. I pulled the aqua out of it and sprayed it with some glimmermist - Olive Vine. I added from my stash a Dusty Attic chippie, which I painted and then brushed on some of the same glimmermist I used to spray the flower.

I used the Dusty Attic Wire Dress Form that was included in the kit and so generously donated by Dusty Attic. I really love testing out the many ways to cover this beautiful laser cut chipboard! I will be putting the details of just exactly what I did over at Dusty Attic. I painted the dress form with Acrylic paint and then used a mix of various color Alcohol Inks to coat this piece. I also added a book plate on this page from my stash, I covered the same way as the dress form. For the book plate I only used one color Alcohol ink.

I will be sharing a tutorial of just how I put together this page later in May.

More Scrap That! "Madame Butterfly" Kit

Here is another layout along with a card, I made using the Scrap That! "Madame Butterfly" April Kit.I have used some more fabulous Dusty Attic pieces on these as well:)

Here are some close ups....

For the Dusty Attic pieces I used 2 color distress crackle paints- picket fence & antique linen, Glimmermist- Creme de Chocolate and some distress stickles-antique linen. I coated with white picket fence and then sprayed with glimmermist, let dry. I then dabbed with antique linen paint and once dry stickles lightly. I also added some stickles on the flowers and butterfly.

Card

To cover the Dusty Attic chipboard I used acrylic paint, gesso and distress ink. These flowers were from my stash and I used the paper from the April kit for the card and butterflies.

Scrap That! Blog Hop...Kit Reveal/ Dress Forms Treatment

Today I'm sharing my projects using the April Madame Butterfly Kit from Scrap That! So happy to be guest designing with them!

MOLDING PASTE and PERFECT PEARLS ....Dress Form Treatment
I'm going to share an idea that popped in my head the other day to cover the chipboard, giving it kind of like a sculptured effect. Here are some of the supplies you will need.
This is so simple! Cover your chipboard with a light coat of molding paste.I simply used my finger to apply the paste. Set aside to dry. I used wax paper to work on top of, this way the paste doesn't stick. Oce you have put 1 light coat of molding paste set aside to dry. I placed mine right on my window ledge to dry in the sun. It dried very quickly.
Once it is completely dry add a second light layer of molding paste.
After you have added your second light coat set aside to dry again. Once your second coat is completely dry add in your color. I first inked right over the molding paste with distress ink, then I dabbed in some color with perfect pearls. I decided to keep it on the plain side just adding a pearl to the top of the piece. I inked the bottom part of the chipboard to leaving it basically plain.
And there you have your finished product ready to add to your layout.

This kit is fabulous featuring the newly released Bo Bunny Gabrielle Collection. So many other lovely items in this kit as well. I just love those Dusty Attic dress forms! So for my first project, I included those on the page.

I will be sharing a Tutorial for putting this layout together later in April. I put molding paste on the dress forms and added a little color with the perfect pearls from this months kit. I will be posting more details on the dress forms over at Dusty Attic. I used Rock Candy Stickles and Diamond Dust on the flowers, around the title and the butterfly on the page to add a little sparkle.

Note* The pearls and Beautiful Chipboard was from my stash. I loved the small doilies in this kit and cutting out the beautiful butterflies. THANK YOU so much for visiting my blog. LOVE is.... Dusty Attic/Vintage Clock Treatment

Hello Everyone:)
Just going to show you quickly, how adding some embellishment on to your chipboard pieces can add interest. I have a small baggie of vintage watch pieces that I've used for the Vintage Clock #2 DA0262 on my layout.
Here are the supplies I used to ink and embellish my clock
Ink your clock. You can use any technique to do this. I simply used distress inks. Next, I took the fine tipped Sharpie to color in the circle edge around the clock. I then added crackle paint over the top.
Allow the crackle paint to dry completely. Once dry you can ink a bit more over the crackle paint. You are now ready to add your embellishment pieces:)

Using a tweezer, I picked up my center piece for the clock. Dip in metal glue lightly and hold into place until stable.
Next I added the clock hands, Dip in glue, add on top of center piece on clock. Then I added just a tiny little piece on top of the clock hands.
Then just added some more pieces to embellish the side of the clock. I rubbed some tacky glue on the area where I was going to place my pieces. And repeat dipping in metal glue for each piece added. some are layered, the metal glue drys quickly and holds them in place. You only need a very little bit of glue for each piece. These pieces are so tiny. Once dry add to your page.
I have added this clock to my page using a 3D pop dot.
Hope this is inspiring to you, there are so many different small embellishments to add some detail and interest to your chippies. Embellish away!!

***TIP***
To get a full coverage of paint to the edges of your chipboard, dampen a Q-Tip in water and load your Q-Tip with your paint. Run across the edges of your chipboard piece. This give a quick and neat full coverage to finish up your edges. I don't always finish the edges but for the swirls on this page I wanted a completely covered edge.

This page was inspired by a Creative Scrappers Sketch #142. Used some Dusty Attic chipboard:) I have inked the whole die cut circle with Distress ink and the layers as well.

I have painted the Chippie Swirls (Small Scroll #2) with Black Soot Distress paint...very simple.

***TIP*** For a quick full coverage on the edges of the swirl chippies I used a Q-tip dampened in water. Load your dampened Q-tip with your paint,slide across for a full and quick easy coverage on all edges. I don't always paint all the edges of the chipboard but, for this layout I wanted a finished edge.

To add some interest and detail to the Vintage Clock chippie (Vintage Clock #2 DA0262) I used small vintage watch pieces.

Here you can see the detail it added to this clock.

I have used a 3D pop dot behind the clock.

Dusty Attic ~ Winter

I was so excited to receive my Dusty Attic this week!! I am currently working on some other pages but, I had to push those off to the side to play with some of these beautiful new pieces:) I really have not had to deal with the bitter Winter I'm use to... living in Florida now. I don't miss it either, for the most part. I do however miss (a little) sitting and scrapping while the snow was falling outside, sipping my coffee and working a Winter themed page. So I pulled some papers from my stash and put together this page. I used the newly released snowflakes and ferns on this page.

I covered the snowflakes with distress crackle paint in 2 shades and sprinkled some embossing tinsel in the paint, just to give a little fluffy texture.

I layered, distressed and inked my papers as I often do and I thought those ferns would like pretty layered a bit to:)

I very simply inked these chippies with some chalk ink and then lightly dabbed my finger threw my distress paint for a little contrast. The chalk inks work perfectly on these chippies!! They are the perfect size to swipe across the chipboard, and gave it quick and easy coverage.

Giggles... Dusty Attic and Swirlydoos Spotlight Kit

I am anxiously awaiting getting my pack of goods from Dusty Attic:) until then, I pulled out of my stash of Dusty Attic and the Prima Annalee Collection from Swirlydoos. I adore these papers and the Wire Dress Form from Dusty Attic.

I cut out the middle of this paper and just did some light distressing. I used 3 of the Rub ons from this collection. I made a ribbon banner for the page title.

I painted the Dusty Attic Chipboard lightly with distress crackle paint picket fence and sprayed it with some Marshmallow Glimmermist. And then just added some curled paper strips and added a prima pebble and some roses to it.

Hi everyone!! I did this page a couple weeks ago, just been so crazy busy with the holidays and family. Hope everyone had a most wonderful Christmas and New Years!!!

I used the Swirlydoos December " Divine Noel " kit. I just luv those papers in the kit. I also used the beautiful vine from the kit. I cut it up and used a part on the top corner and the rest of the piece on the bottom. I dabbed some Glimmermist Cranberry Zing on the petals, to bring in some of that color from the paper. I then sprayed it with Iridescent Gold. The edges of the paper all inked with distress ink and also misted over. A little fussy cutting and distressing.

Swirlydoos ~ November REVEAL.... "Simply Irresistible"

These resist papers are FABULOUS and lots of fun!! You really can alter them any which way, using inks and mists of all kinds. I used Perfect Pearls turquoise and vintage photo distress ink to color this page. I sprayed the page down first with the mist and then let it dry and inked it. I really like the color effects I got. I sprayed the ribbon down with Glimmermist Chalk Board. I painted, inked and sprayed the Dusty Attic.

I had fun with these papers and making the flower arrangement with the beautiful cameo piece from the kit.

Although you probably can't see in the photo I used some Glimmer Glaze all along the ribbon and tulle on this it adds a touch of color and sparkle.

On this layout I used the Gilmmer Glaze to paint the circle and the Dusty Attic title. It's very sparkly!! All the embellishments on this page were in the kit, except the prima crystals.

This one I created using the monthly sketch. I misted two different pieces of the resist papers with Glimmermist in Cranberry Zing and Antique Pink. I used prima packaging for behind the photo, and the first time I have ever cut up one of my photos. The butterflies I took off our butterfly thread over at Swirlydoos, and glazed them lightly with mist, rock candy stickles and diamond dust.

You can very easily alter this book to your style. I have misted in layers, stamped, inked and embossed. Here are a few completed pages.

Another layout I did using the Swirlydoos "Lavender Escape" kit. I made this page for the October Round Robin Challenge at Swirlydoos. Again these Websters Pages are beautiful!!!

I took some photos of my dd Cassie before she was off to school one day last week, she's always ready to pose for the camera:)

I distressed the page and the circles using my Zutter and then some water. I used a lot of distress stickles on the swirls and a touch on the title letters. I did some cut work to add to my flower cluster and added lots of pearls and Zva crystals and pearls cut apart.

Today is the unveiling of the October Kit Lavender Escape over at Swirlydoos! This kit as well as the add on kits are packed as always with beautiful product. Lavender Escape features the Hollywood Vogue Websters pages, prima flowers and gems, pink paislee Artisan Elements and more.

The colors and floral design on this paper are so attracting! I did some simple distressing, used the beautiful trim package, prima gems and black tulle. I used the smooch sprays that came in the add on kit to color the title letters.

My dd Cassie was flower girl for my cousins wedding in August. This photo was perfect for this paper. I used a Dusty Attic piece to place behind the photo. I turned it upside down, painted it lightly and added some rock candy stickles and diamond dust. I used wet distressing for the papers. And the vine fit right in with the page

This one was created using this months sketch by Beggahuna. Always inspired by her beautiful sketches, and we receive a new one each month in our kit. The swirls I cut from my cricut. And another flower I made to match the page from the tutorial I did a couple weeks ago.

Water Distressed RoseTutorial and Acrylic Layout.....

HELLO everyone, sorry I have been MIA for awhile. We just moved out of state and it has been one crazy summer! Were settling in and the kid's are back in school now, so things are getting back to normal....I THINK?! I have missed you all, and will try to get caught up on my visits and comments:)

It's late into the month already I know, but I finally had the chance to dig out my scrappy stuff and my September Kit. I did this tutorial for with the TH- Tattered Rose Floral die.

Water Distressed Rose Tutorial

Using the tattered floral sample die we received in our September Project kit, I created a Rose Tutorial. This is my spin on creating a rose with this die. I used the die cut sample traced and hand cut the petals. If you have this die you won't need to do that. Simply cut your needed petals with your machine. But...you can easily use a sample as well.

Here are the supplies you will need

Step 1

Ink all your petals. I used vintage photo and antique linen distress ink.

Step 2

With your mini mister using water or a sheer glimmermist, generously spray your petals. Let the water absorb into the petals.

Step 3

While petals are still damp, start crumbling them. Let set a couple minutes.

Step 4

Start arranging your petals. Layer by layer, turning one petals layer down and the next layer up. Continue to arrange your petals until you are satisfied with the result.

Step 5

Using a dab of glue to each center of the layers, build your bloom. There are 4 large layers, 2 medium layers and 1 tiny layer.

Spritz a small rosebud with smooch spray, for the center of your bloom. I used black velvet. Secure medium layers to large layers to complete your rose bloom. You may also give a spray to your whole rose with glimmermist to finish. I used iridescent gold.

"Let them be Little" Acrylic Layout

This was my first time using Acrylic. It was so much FUN and not so scary:)
Here are a few simple things I did and some closeups.

I painted the Acrylic with some craft paint and a sponge. I applied a thin layer, and put a piece of patterned paper behind the acrylic so the pattern show through slightly. Adding some distress ink and a rub.

Then tearing my paper and running the pieces through the Zutter and heavily inking each piece, gave me the old worn effect.

I added lace to my layout as well, I LUV using lace on my pages. Simply cut pieces of lace inked them and arranged them on the page. I also used the decorative accents on the side cut a circle piece and attached it on to the side of the page.

I added a DA piece along with the roses and pearls to complete the page.

Today is REVEAL day over at Swirlydoos. This kit features the IOD Beloved paper collection and of course a ton of other beautiful product. Shabby Ambition is again so versatile! It's lovely, soft and delicate!!

Here are my design layouts I created with this kit.

This page I made the layers on top of layers. The swirls were smeared with the gray perfect pearls, from the kit. I also sprayed them lightly with glimmermist. Lots of distressing to the layers and inking. Used my zutter as always.

Embrace Life

Lots of layers and inking on this one as well. The birds I hand cut out of the paper and covered them with diamond dust. This entire page is misted, although I don't think you can see the sparkle in the photos. I also misted all the flowers. I cut up some prima pearls and placed them around.

Angel Face

This next one I did wet distressing with the edges of the papers and inking. I inked in the butterflies and added diamond dust to them. I cut out some of the stem design and placed it around the photo with the flower.

I'm back!

HI everyone, back home from vacation. Wanted to say how much I've missed all my friends! Chatting, and seeing all your creations. I'm so behind, trying to catch up now!

We went to Florida, for almost 2 weeks. It was a relaxing slow pace vacation, really NICE:) We just took in the Florida sights, did shopping, beaches, Bush Gardens and mostly visited with family. I did have the opportunity to visit with Lisa (StarSailorScrapper) She was so kind to have us over for a FABULOUS meal!! We got to see her BEAUTIFUL home and her scrap room......of course:) It was a GREAT time!

SWIRLYDOOS July kit designs Summer Serenity

As always Swirlydoos July kit is beautiful as ever and packed full with product, as well as all the add on kits.
The July kit features BG Cappella, and those papers are so pretty. This is my first round of designs, featuring parts of the add on kits as well as the main kit. And there will be more to come.

Based off this months beautiful sketch, I created this lo.

Barefoot and Free

I have used a Dusty Attic vine, along with the beautiful prima blooms from the kit. For the vine, I painted it lightly with antique white paint. Used some green and brown chalk and distress ink to highlight. Then brushed it with Rock Candy paint and sprinkled diamond dust on.

The butterflies are images from Lisa, that she shared with us. I printed them out on white cardstock, brushed them with Rock Candy stickles and then sprinkled them with diamond dust. The paper underneath was spritzed with the smooch spray that came in the kit. And the lo was using some heavy distressing of the paper with water. And I just made up some letters real quick on the computer.

The cardstock add on paper was thick and textured. I used the mauve colored card stock for this one. Along with the swirl from the kit and made a rose, from the BG paper.

Friends

I painted the swirl, highlighted it with green and pink chalks and sprinkled with diamond dust. After making the rose, I smeared some of the petals with Rock Candy stickles and added diamond dust to the area.

The next one was a pretty simple one and was a sketch created by Mandy ( Crafty Sprinkles ) Just some light inking and distressing. Pulled a prima flower apart and added another small one to the middle. And altered the thickers with distress ink and the Kaiser craft paint that came in the add on kit. It was the perfect match to the papers.

June Sketch...SWIRLYDOOS....Timeless

Using the June sketch and Swirlydoos June kit, I created this page. These papers are just so pretty! The photo is my Mother, in her younger days. I believe she is pregnant here. When I printed out the photo I noticed she is wearing a cameo necklace too.

Funny, my youngest dd asked what was going on with my hair in this photo........lol! I had to tell her it wasn't me, it was her Grandma.

I used stickles Rock Candy and Baby Blue, to accent the frame, flowers and watch parts. I glued the watch parts to the frame, along the bottom.

La vie en Rose..........May Sketch

This one I used the AWESOME monthly sketch for. I had been trying to play around with it while we were at Camp. I have a very hard time using plain cardstock for backrounds. I found the white worked well, with a splash of mist of course.THANKS for the white cardstock suggestion, Robin! The technique add on kit had glimmermist in it, and I also used some Black Magic. And with the black vine and an old swirl from my stash it came together. Yeah, I made another rose:)

Storage Drawer Box

We received these boxes at Swirlydoos Camp, along with some Tombo metal glue, TH feet and G45 papers.
WOW............that's some beautiful stuff! I completed this a couple of weeks ago, and I'm just getting around to updating here.

I used Mod Podge satin, paint, distess inks, glimmermist, prima vines and made the rose for the top. And I picked up some knobs from Home Depot. The Tombo metal glue works amazing! I had doubted that the glue would hold on the feet and be able to stand, holding the weight of the box. It did, and it's still standing!!

Distressed Rose Tutorial

Here is the steps I took to make the large rose on my last lo. This is very close to the Coffee Filter Roses Tutorial that Lisa (StarSailorScrapper) did. I have simply distressed the edges up and added more layers.

Here is what you will need

You will have 19 hearts. You can use diecuts, stencils I used my Cricut.
5 - 2' 4 - 1 1/2' 4 - 1 1/4' 6 - 1' HEARTS. You can change the sizes to make smaller roses, add more or less depending on the fullness you want. For this rose, I used the exact sizes above.

Now begin distressing the edges of your hearts. I used my Zutter, but you could use other distress tools or scissors. Carefully run the edges through the Zutter.

You have your distressed hearts.

Now make a straight cut down the center of the heart at it's peak.

Where you cut, rough up your straight edge slightly using you scissors.

Next gather all your hearts, according to size and punch them now. Do not punch them before you distress them. During the process of distressing, the holes are more likely to tear. Punch them all together, so that the holes all line up.

Next ink your edges with distress ink.

Start layering your hearts on the brad. Inked side down, starting with 4 small hearts, inked side facing down. When you have the 4 small ones on, start adding all the other hearts smallest to biggest size. Set aside 2 of your 1' hearts.

Here's what you will have when your done.

Now start shaping your rose.

You'll have something like this, when your finished.

Now take your 2 lonely hearts you set aside, and curl them together to fill out your center.

Add a little drop of glue, then you will want to snip the bottom off.

Add the small piece you just made, to the center of the rose. Once your done getting the layers to look close to what you want, spray your whole rose with glimmermist. After your mist dries a bit, you can continue to arrange your petals. When your done this is what you will have.

Depending on the weight of the cardstock you decide to use... it will appear different. I used heavier weight cardstock and this rose appears to be thicker and more bulky looking than the peach rose you view below. That cardstock was thinner... and gives it a different look. Using the Zutter will also add to it's thickness more so if you are using a heavier weight paper. You will want to experiment a bit.

**NOTE** To make smaller size roses, all you need to do is start out with smaller hearts. For the medium sized rose below I used....8 - 1 1/2 inch and 4 - 1 1/4 inch and 6 - 1 inch hearts.

I hope you try this, you will be amazed with the results. It may looked complicated, but it's really not at all!!

SGC May Challenge ~ Distress and Layer..........Exquisite

Hey Everyone this month, I'm host for The Swirly Girl's Club Challenge. And I chose distressing and layering, two things I luv to do on my pages! We got these beautiful G45 papers at Swirly Camp, and by the way Camp was such a GREAT time. This is my first time working with G45, I usually have a hard time with them, but these are so beautiful, I found them easier.

My example I made up for the challenge

I thought it would be fun to add a twist, so the twist is the handmade rose. I havn't made one in awhile. I used card stock and distressed each piece before putting it together inked the edges and misted it.

I have 8 layers, for the challenge you need a min. of 6. Here are some more close ups......................

Spring BREEZE

This I made for the Round Robin Challenge at Swirlydoos. I did a lot of misting, inking and sprinkling w/ diamond dust. I luv these papers!!

Almost forgot, inside the frame I used Gesso. Using Darien's idea!! I luv the effect it gives......very COOL idea D, THANKS!!!

THE COLOR ROOM #2

I finally got the chance yesterday, to work with the color palette for this week. All of the papers and pretty much everything on the page is from past and current SWIRLYDOOS kits. This is a very cool way to use up your stash of stuff.........I luv it!

I did some quick distressing, misting and throwing it all together......racing the sun going down, so I could take photos. I painted the frame with a thin coat of Distress crackle paint, inked it and misted it with gimmermist and also shimmerz spritz. Lightly misted the flower, and the back round paper to. First time I distressed a photo. I took my Zutter to it.......in hopes I wouldn't ruin it.

I stamped out the title on transparency paper and cut it out.

Swirlydoos ~ Swirly Girl's Club Challenge~ beautiful day

I made this lo up for Mandy's Grunge Challenge, over at Swirlydoos. If you have some time, you should go take a peek over on the Challenge forum there, lots of FUN challenges going on!!

I used the spotlight kit from Swirlydoos, and I also had ordered some of these pp's of Prima Pastiche. So I have my share of these papers. I also used the Wrought Iron Fence from Dusty Attic. Most of the embellishments, I just cut out of the papers. And then I added some vine and roses, along with some dried moss.

To achieve the grungy effect, I used Distress crackle paint and inks, and also Glimmermist in 2 shades. Using the paint, I brushed it lightly over all the edges. I put some on the photo, and used 2 colors on the fence.

The photo is 5x7 printed out on transparency paper...............

The prima flower was a very bright and bold color. So I toned it down a little, to make it blend in better. I brushed it with glimmermist and distress paint.

Life's Portrait - SWIRLYDOOS Park Avenue kit

One evening last week my kid's were dressed up to attend church. I thought it was the perfect time to grab the camera. In recent years getting pictures of my boy's has been a challenge. You all would think I have only one child, because my youngest daughter is the subject of most of my lo's. However, I was able to get some really great shots of the boy's finally! I think I went overboard though, I took 270 pictures. Of course, that's because 1 I had my new camera, and 2 ~ with trying to take all 3 of them, together and alone......I just kept shooting quickly.

This lo was done with the sketch of the month, for Swirlydoos, by Beggahuna. I layered the 2 diecut papers together again, did some cutting.....pretty simple page.

I used the navy blue tulle that came in the kit, and placed it over the photo. Just gives a different sort of effect.

Candy filled EASTER CARROTS

This was a really fun project. My mind was thinking carrot shapes?? I ran across these paper cones at my LSS, and thought they would make perfect carrots. I stuffed them with candy and money.

I painted the cones with orange paint, sanded them and added some distress ink to the base. Wrapped the top with inked lace. I cut squares of white tulle I had on hand and just inked it green. Stuffed the base and the squares with candy. I pulled things from my dried floral stash, to fill the tops in. Tied the candy squares and tags. As I was inking the tulle the paper underneath me became my distressed tags. I stamped them with the bunny stamp, cut them to size and then ran them through my Zutter.

Once I figured out what I was doing with designing the first one, the other 3 only took minutes to throw together. Again, very EASY!!

EASTER BASKET

I found this basket at my LSS. I liked the look of the crochet lace weave it had. Added some ribbons along the center, and the paper.

I didn't really know what I was going to do with it. Then I had an idea to see how I could use strips of paper to decorate the handle. I started trimming paper strips, running the strips through my Zutter and with a hot glue gun, placing them around the handle.

I used the whole length of a 12x12 sheet of paper. I used 2 total 12x12 sheets for filling out the handle. I took the paper strips 2 at a time placed a small drop of hot glue, so they would stick together. I then folded the strip in half, and placed another drop of the glue in the center of the fold to hold and secure the paper to the handle.

Starting at the center point of the handle working my way down either side. In the process of gluing the strips, I stopped to start curling the paper. Making the curls go the way I wanted.

Both sides are equally FULL, front and back. Making your curls fills out the whole handle. So it looks just as ful in the back side of the basket as the front view.

I made my curls using a pencil. Spiraling the paper around the pencil. You have full control of the rolling, making some tighter and loser. This was the really fun part:) And that's it! SUPER EASY!!

Once I had all the papers curled, I added in the prima bouquet of flowers. I also attached 2 stirps of paper to the end of the little bouquet and some pink polka-a-dot sheer ribbon. Placed it where I wanted it, attaching it with more hot glue.

lil DIVA......Swirlydoos April Kit ~ Park Avenue

This April kit from Swirlydoos is FABULOUS!! Filled with Websters pages, Prima, Pink Paislee and so much more. The embellishment kit is packed full of goodies too!!

All the Websters pages (Life's portrait) are so versatile, there is something for everyone and all styles. Polka-a-dot, stripes, florals and vellum. The possibilities are endless. I luv anything with polka-a-dot pattern, and mixing it with the other papers was so fun. The paper with all the fancy frames jumped out at me. I thought it would be cute to cut them out, and use them on the lo. I decided to use the beautiful vellum paper, for the back drop.

As for my subject......WELL........she's always up for being photographed. I told her to go grab her polka-a-dot sunglasses, and snapped photo's of her. She's hilarious with her posing and faces:)

So this is what I came up with. I used my new Distrezz-it-All from Zutter too.

I inked the frames with distress ink, and misted them with pearl and added touches of tuxedo smooch.

Viewing Nature

Yesterday while it was snowing outside, I made this lo. Welcome to Spring in Chicago!! It's already gone today, so I'm happy. I used the March Swirlydoo's kit......Butterfly Whispers.

I took these photo's of my youngest daughter Cassie, last summer. We have a really beautiful park near our house with waterfalls and trails, it's so pretty and peaceful there. I wanted to do somewhat of a nature theme with these pictures. I took so many photo's that day, so I'm sure I'll be scrapping more. I used a piece of transparency paper, ran through the computer to put the quote on it. I then cut it to size to fit over the picture.

I misted the flowers with glimmermist. I used some smooch on the big rose, to add in some of the orange color. As it dried it kinda faded in a lot though.

I cut some tulle and inked it brown, to layer behind the photo's to add some softness.

A new lo - Rose garden

I created this lo, for Meg's Round Robin Challenge over at Swirlydoo's. A very fun challenge!! There are 4 or 5 groups of 4 girls, I was the first to go in my group. What's funny is I didn't even realize I was up to go for Friday (today) until Tuesday. Eye's popping out of my head, I'm so glad I realized this with plenty of time do it :)

Used this new FABULOUS product line from prima...........PASTICHE!!!! I so luv the deep rich colors in the papers I have used. Also I absolutely luv roses, so I had to use a bunch of those.

The photo is of my late Mother, when she was young 1974'. Her favorite flower was roses, we always had them in our yard growing up. This is one of my favorite photos, that I've been wanting to scrap for a long time. I think my Mother was so beautiful. What makes the photo so special to me though, is not only was her outer beauty flawless, inside she was such a wonderful person! She was everything to so many.....EXTRAORDINARY Mother and Wife, Grandmother.....daughter, sister and friend. Her sudden death was tragic to all who knew her. Leaving my family completely heartbroken. I was so lost for the longest period of time, because I spent portions of everyday with her. A piece of my heart will always be broken, over her death. On a cheerful note, she taught me everything I know today!! And I can only hope to measure up very slightly to the Mother and person she was.

So I have used a bunch of roses on this, roses are my favorite flower too. And every time I see a beautiful rose......of course I think of her. My youngest daughter Cassie, her middle name is ROSE. My oldest daughter already has my Mothers name as a middle name. So, I thought Rose was perfect for her. And we often call her Miss ROSY:)

I have misted a bunch of these and just added a small touch of distress ink to the centers of the larger roses.

I luv the look of layers so, I have layered up this page. I cut up the felt from one large piece to 3 smaller ones, and placed them around the page.

Distressing your papers

This is very simple to do, no water or tools. Gather up your papers you would like to distress. You could do this process one at a time while putting together your lo. Or all at the same time. I just have some older scraps here, to use for example.

I don't have an edge distresser (waiting for my zutter) I use my nails and also my scissors to distress the edges on my papers. So start distressing your paper edges.

Now you have your finished edges.

Now the fun part, you will start making folds, creases in and around your paper edges. Again, I'm just using my fingers to press in the paper. Think of it as if you were working with clay, making impressions in your paper.

This next photo shows making deep creases in the paper.

You can do this however much you choose. A little for a more subtle look, or more drastic. For example, flipping or curling the edges up or down to reveal more of the other side of the double sided paper. Or to reveal a peek of something underneath or on the side of the paper.

The heavier weight double sided papers work best for this. And you may even have some small tears. You can use the thin/lighter weight papers though too. Just keep in mind the thinner the paper, it will tear more easily.

Once you have your papers the way you like, I like to ink the edges. It makes everything stand out more. I also go over the creases I've made in the paper with the top of the ink pad.

This lo I did with the March Swirlydoos Kit ~ Butterfly Whispers.........even the name is beautiful. What's inside OH MY.....tons of gorgeous prima. My daughter Maria, took this picture of herself. I just loved it!!! So what better time to scrap it with all this wonderful product. This is also for prima's BAP.

I added some glimmermist to the letters, just dabbing it on with a q-tip. And then I put some heat on it. The letters were blending into the paper too much, so I wanted them to stand out a bit.

Another Winter LO

This lo I made using the Feb. Swirlydoos kit. And Robin's wonderful sketch. To see Robin's sketch , check out her blog http://robin-loves2creata.blogspot.com. I luv the rich brown colors, mixed w/just a touch of soft green. These papers make me think of mint chocolate meltaways, so yummy. The title is what my daughter called them, as I handed her them, one chilly afternoon. I thought that was so cute, made me laugh. One day while shopping at Old Navy, I saw these sitting on an empty rack. It was the only pair there, I was so happy. I had been shopping on and off for days, looking for a really cute hat, gloves and scarf for her. It was seriously ridiculous considering it's Dec. in Chicago!! I guess everyone finished their Christmas shopping. Anyway, shorty after she jumped up and down calling "EAR PUFFS EAR PUFFS" she snapped them, they broke, she cried pitifully. And now here I am, back on the hunt. This time, it had to be "EAR PUFFS" a cute hat wouldn't do. Thankfully, I found a pair that looked exactly like the pair she broke....LOL

I used some rock candy stickles (Thanks, Lisa) and diamond dust on the flower. I painted the snowflakes w/crackle paint, and also put the stickles and dust on those. The branches I snipped off of my winter garland, I have hanging. The lace is from my collection. I inked it, w/distress ink vintage photo. The distress crackle paint, came in the kit. I used the paint on the title as well.

I thought the little bird fit so well, cut from Websters pages.
